Kalorama Chestnut Festival

The Kalorama Chestnut Festival is a beloved Dandenong Ranges community event that has been running for over 30 years.

Come along with your friends and family and enjoy all things chestnut with food and festivities planned throughout the day.

Kalorama Chestnut Festival 2017 Dates – Mount Dandenong, VIC

The Kalorama Chestnut Festival is hosted by the Mt Dandenong Pre-School who organises a huge range of food and drink stalls to celebrate the chestnut season. Chestnuts are delicious and fragrant with a distinctive taste and can be boiled, roasted or fried and are very high in fibre and vitamin C.

Chestnuts are synonymous with autumn in Australia and have been grown here for over 100 years. They are commonly roasted in roadside stalls and are often used in cakes and biscuits.

At the festival, there will be heaps of stalls with locally made handicrafts and plenty of food including roasted chestnuts, poffertjes and home-made cakes. There will be a sausage sizzle for those looking for something more substantial for lunch as well as artisan beer and mulled wine. You will also be able to buy cold drinks as well as freshly brewed tea and coffee. The Sky High restaurant also offers a Devonshire tea for those looking for a treat.

For kids there will be heaps of fun activities to keep them occupied including bungy jump trampolines, mini golf, train rides, flying swings, petting zoos. There will also be live entertainment including music and performances.

So come up to Mt Dandenong for this unique autumn event and then stay for dinner. Dress warmly as it can get cold during the evenings and let the chestnuts and the mulled wine keep you warm!
