Giro Della Donna 2019 Dates & Cycling Race Route, Warburton VIC
You will be riding through beautiful forested areas with tall trees and ferns on each side. There will be many shady sections to keep off the hot sun and stunning views as you make the climb.
The ride starts in Warburton and cyclists will immediately start climbing up a steep ascent. You will travel past Lake Mountain and through the picturesque town of Marysville. There are steep and sharp corners, so riders need to take care in these areas.
According to the organisers of the event, the 125km ride will take participants through Milgrove, then “you’ll head west along a meandering rail trail, before riding up the paved Don Valley climb and the picturesque Myrtle Creek wooden bridge. A short sector of hard-packed gravel will deliver you to Panton Gap, and the chance to take in the views above Healesville. The road once again turns to dirt as you ascend through temperate rainforest, with no shortage of photo opportunities along the way. After a stunning viewpoint overlooking the Upper Yarra Valley, you’ll once again be on paved roads, for the final kilometres to the summit of Mount Donna Buang. After refuelling, and plenty of photos it’s all downhill on closed roads on the way back to the event village in Warburton.”
Heading through Acheron Way will give riders the best views yet as they make the final climb up to the summit of Mt. Donna Buang. A challenging ride, this event is suitable for experienced riders. Spectators are welcome to greet riders at Mt. Donna Buang but note that many roads will be closed along the cycling route.
With refreshments and entertainment at the summit after the race, this is a great event everyone can enjoy! Registration for the 2019 event is open NOW!
