Visitors regularly combine a trip to the village with nearby attractions such as the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden, the Chelsea Australian Garden in Olinda, and the beautiful Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens. These gardens attract huge numbers of visitors during spring and autumn when colourful flowers and seasonal foliage transform the hills into one of Victoria’s most picturesque destinations.

The village itself is a major attraction. Sassafras Village is filled with antique stores, gift shops, artisan boutiques, bookstores, galleries, and specialty retailers selling everything from teas and chocolates to handmade products and collectibles.

Food and dining are another major drawcard in Sassafras. Visitors often stop for brunch, lunch, or high tea at popular venues such as Ripe Sassafras, Dine Divine, Violet’s of Sassafras, and House of Fras.

Nearby forest reserves and walking tracks provide even more outdoor attractions. The Sassafras Creek Forest Trail offers scenic hiking through dense forest and fern gullies towards Emerald, while peaceful parks such as Ferny Creek Ornamental Gardens Reserve provide quieter natural escapes close to the village.

Combined with its cool mountain atmosphere, boutique shopping, and surrounding forests, Sassafras remains one of the most enjoyable attractions in the Dandenong Ranges.
