The gardens provide a quieter counterpoint to the lookout, with mature trees, native planting and an English-style garden beneath blackwoods. Seasonal flowers and autumn foliage add interest, although the display varies with the weather. Walk slowly through the planted areas and pause where the landscape opens towards the city.

The Australiana Tree and oversized Giant’s Chair are recognisable photo stops. Keep children supervised around roads, slopes and elevated areas, and use the paths rather than cutting across planted beds. Wet leaves and outdoor surfaces can be slippery. Menu surcharges are 10% on Saturdays and Sundays and 15% on public holidays. Dietary needs should be discussed before ordering: the operator warns that its kitchen handles allergens and cannot cater for severe allergies or anaphylaxis. The formal restaurant dinner service and upstairs function room are currently closed; enquire directly about any existing function booking.

Lawns and picnic tables provide space to bring your own food or eat takeaway from the bistro. Gas barbecues can be hired for an additional charge, subject to availability and restrictions. Bringing a packed lunch gives you flexibility, but do not assume a particular table or barbecue will be free on a busy day.

Grounds entry is free for visitors arriving on foot, by bicycle or public transport. Vehicles pay to use the private car parks: cars are $5 Monday to Friday and $10 on weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Motorbikes are $3, minibuses $15 and coaches $25. Parking demand rises on clear weekends and holidays, so leave room in the schedule to arrive and find a space. The entry gate closes at 6pm and the exit gate is locked at 6:30pm. Return to your vehicle and leave before the latter time, and arrange any taxi or rideshare collection early enough to avoid being stranded after closing.
