The exhibition can provide a useful introduction to the artists’ work before you decide which studios to visit. Burrinja produces Open Studios in partnership with Yarra Ranges Council, but the wider event takes place at individual studio addresses throughout the region.

Burrinja Cultural Centre is at 351 Glenfern Road in Upwey, near the corner of Matson Drive. Free parking is available in its car park off Matson Drive. Visitors arriving by train can use Upwey or Tecoma stations on the Belgrave line, with a walk of approximately 15–20 minutes to the centre.

Parking, Accessibility and Practical Tips

Access conditions differ between studios. Before visiting, check whether a location has steps, sloping paths, uneven surfaces or limited parking, and contact the artist if you need more specific information.

Burrinja provides accessible parking and wheelchair access, but its facilities should not be taken as an indication of conditions at every participating studio.

For a day involving several scattered locations, a car may offer the most flexibility. Carpool where practical, follow each studio’s parking directions and avoid blocking neighbouring driveways.

Bring a jacket and wear comfortable shoes for moving between buildings and outdoor paths. Leave room for a meal or coffee stop, especially if you are planning a full day in the hills.
