Emerald Lake Model Railway

The Emerald Lake Model Railway is the largest model railway in the southern hemisphere.

Located in the Dandenong Ranges just an hour’s drive from Melbourne, this attraction is nestled within the heart of the Puffing Billy country in Emerald.

The railway features over 2 kilometres of tracks, tunnels, towns, and miniature hills. It’s made up of 250 buildings and houses, 1,100 trees, 450 vehicles, and 1,500 miniature people.

The attention to detail and workmanship is nothing short of impressive, as everything in the model has been carefully made by hand. It’s one of the area’s most popular kids’ attractions, and makes a great day out – especially when combined with the other sites; such as pedal boats, fishing, walking trails, and picnic areas.

There are public toilets and food vendors nearby and is located on the corner of Emerald Lake Road and Elizabeth Ct in Emerald, Victoria.
