Koolamara Water Reserve

Koolamara Water Reserve is a natural sanctuary and home to diverse flora and fauna that makes it a top attraction in the Dandenong Ranges region.

Koolamara Water Reserve, Walking Track, Playground, Map & Address

The reserve is easily accessible from Koolamara Boulevard or Blackwood Park Road. On arrival, visitors can take a leisurely stroll on the flat gravel walking track. However, the track does get muddy and slippery during the wet season. This will affect the mobility for wheelchair users and persons with physical disabilities but is suitable for prams and wheelchairs on dry days.

A family-friendly attraction, the reserve is home to a playground that allows kids to play and explore the reserve’s hidden treasures. There is a large open grassy area where the kids run around, jump and roll over for a fun-filled afternoon. Some of the play facilities include spring riders, fireman’s pole, a flying fox and a climbing wall. There are also swings available for the adventurous kids, complete with a climbing fort. A couple of biking paths exist alongside some seats where parents can unwind as they watch over their kids.

Other amenities present at the reserve include ample outdoor seating space, picnic grounds as well as parking. The reserve’s environs are pram-friendly and dog-friendly, although dogs must remain leashed at all times as this is a habitat for platypus and native birds.
